40 Series 5-Speed Gearbox Crossmember

A 5-speed gearbox is usually one of the first major upgrades for many 40 Series owners, and this Australian-made gearbox crossmember solves the first big hurdle.

Designed and manufactured in Australia by McKinnons Cruisers, the crossmember is fabricated from 5mm thick steel and comes in a raw finish so you can choose your own finish.  A complete fitment kit is provided.

The applications for this part are outlined below.

Vehicles 01/1958 – 07/1980

This crossmember will allow the fitment of a H55F 5-speed gearbox to any 40 Series chassis from 01/1958 to 07/1980 including both short-wheel base and long-wheel base variants. These earlier vehicles require drilling to the chassis to secure the crossmember, this in turn creates a bolt-on platform for your 5-speed gearbox to be mounted to safely.    

Vehicles 08/1980 to 08/1984

For vehicles built between 08/1980 to 08/1984, this crossmember serves as a heavy duty a bolt-on replacement or upgrade. Far stronger than the factory part, this 5-speed gearbox crossmember is designed to handle the rigours and stress of a modern tourer. 

1HZ / HD Conversions

This crossmember is also compatible for an 1H platform conversion as well, enthusiasts performing a 1HZ or HDT conversion using a H55F combination into a 40 Series can utilise this crossmember for a simpler and strong conversion. 

Compatible with 1HZ, 1HD-T, 1HD-FT, 1HD-FTE and H55F combinations (1H platform engine mount kits for the 40 Series chassis are also available in our store here).
